Samsung Lazada Supports Education for Maluku Children

Jakarta, April 5, 2017 – PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia has once again demonstrated its commitment to actively contributing to social issues in Indonesia, particularly in education, through the #SamsungBerbagi program. This donation includes 1,500 books and 150 educational toys, which will be distributed to children in Maluku through the Heka Leka Foundation, a non-profit organization in Maluku focused on education.

From March to May, the #SamsungBerbagi program will collaborate with Lazada Indonesia, a leading e-commerce platform in Indonesia, as a token of Samsung’s gratitude for the enthusiasm of Indonesians who have purchased Samsung products on Lazada.co.id.

Samsung’s collaboration with Lazada Indonesia began with the launch of the Samsung Official Online Store, a dedicated sales channel for Samsung products on the Lazada.co.id website. The Samsung Official Online Store on Lazada.co.id offers a wide range of Samsung products, offering attractive promotional programs, guaranteed product authenticity, and easy and convenient shopping through the e-promoter feature, which provides comprehensive product information and allows consumers to interact directly with Samsung customer service.

“Samsung’s collaboration with Lazada Indonesia through the Samsung Official Online Store is an effort to better reach consumers, provide solutions for choosing Samsung products that suit their lifestyles, and ensure their authenticity,” said Jo Semidang, Corporate Marketing Director, PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia. “The #SamsungBerbagi program we are running with Lazada.co.id demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to children’s education in Indonesia. In line with Samsung’s vision to improve the quality of life, our support for improving the quality of education for children in Maluku is expected to bring positive changes not only to students but also to teachers and the surrounding community,” Jo continued.

The partnership, which has been running for two years, has demonstrated positive enthusiasm from consumers, and this is what inspired Samsung and Lazada Indonesia to express their gratitude for their trust through the #SamsungBerbagi program. The #SamsungBerbagi donation distribution will be split into three periods, March–May 2017.

“We are donating 1,500 books and 150 educational toys to children in Maluku through the Heka Leka Foundation as a token of our gratitude to consumers who made transactions in March, and we will continue this program in April and May. We also encourage all Samsung customers who make transactions through the Samsung Official Online Store on Lazada.co.id to make donations to support the education of children in Maluku by selecting the desired amount, which will be directly received by Heka Leka for distribution,” Jo explained.

Since the launch of the Samsung Official Online Store on Lazada.co.id in 2015, consumer enthusiasm has been very positive, even the highest compared to other brands in the electronics and mobile phone categories. “We are very pleased to have partnered with Samsung as one of our main partners for approximately two years.

We have also continued to collaborate to enhance the shopping experience for Lazada customers, including introducing the Samsung Official Online Store with a live chat feature. We are also very proud to be part of the #SamsungBerbagi initiative, which launched coincided with Lazada’s 5th anniversary celebration last March. We hope many Lazada customers will be inspired to share and participate in this initiative by purchasing Heka Leka Education Vouchers available on Lazada.co.id,” explained Duri Granziol, Co-CEO of Lazada Indonesia.

All donations from the #SamsungBerbagi program will be distributed to children in Maluku through Heka Leka, a local foundation focused on formal and informal education, for both students and teachers. Given the geographical and cultural challenges of the islands in Maluku, Samsung appointed Heka Leka to ensure that donations reach students, teachers, and the community effectively.

Stanley Ferdinandus, founder and patron of the Heka Leka Foundation, explained that many areas in Maluku still need assistance to address educational challenges. “I am deeply grateful to learn that Samsung and Lazada.co.id intend to support the education of Maluku’s children, as many children still study with limited resources and facilities, largely due to the island’s difficult-to-reach geography.

The donations and operational funds we received from Samsung and Lazada.co.id will be used to support the education of 1,200 children on Banda Island, Saparua Island, Nusalaut Island, and Kisar Island. The funds will be transported by ship, which takes 10 hours to Banda Island, 36 hours to Kisar Island, and two hours each to Nusalaut and Saparua Islands, to be delivered to students and teachers.”

“Samsung’s commitment to children’s education in Indonesia doesn’t stop here. We hope to continue collaborating with various parties to support the development of a quality young generation in Indonesia, including in remote areas,” Jo concluded.
