Batu Merah Parenting Class: Parenting Patterns

Today, Heka Leka, in collaboration with the Clerry Cleffy Institute, held its first Parenting Class in the Batu Merah area. This activity was supposed to be a class for parents, where they would discuss Effective Approaches to Parenting. However, the children were eager to participate.

As a result, before the Parenting Class began, Ms. Dwi Prihandini Mailuhuw led a creative class with the children. Ms. Dini encouraged them to draw freely without the help of their parents or Malessys, watch inspirational videos and learn from them, and play a leader class game. One child was tasked with organizing their friends into three neat lines. They were given five to seven minutes to pass a piece of paper to another child using their shoulders.

By the end of this game, they learned to work together, never give up, and always try various positive ways to pursue their dreams.

The parents and Malessys were equally enthusiastic. They also asked various questions about parenting. Together, they examined the current reality, where parents find it easier to discipline their children through hitting, pinching, or threats. They also discussed the impact on children and learned better approaches to educating and disciplining them.

This was a truly excellent collaboration between the study group teachers and the parents. They agreed to educate not with violence, but with love and appropriate discipline. May this spirit of change continue to live on in Maluku.

Maluku can certainly be better!

Greetings, Smart Maluku.
