The 2018 Kisar Education Festival Strengthens the Role of Teachers, Parents, and Children (Part 2)

The culmination of the 2018 Kisar Education Festival was the Arts Festival on Saturday, October 27, 2018, held in the Wonreli Elementary School Hall. From early morning, parents and teachers conscientiously brought their children to participate in this activity. Their presence and involvement reflected positive energy and concern for their children’s education and development.

During this Arts Festival, children sang, listened to stories from Big Sister Mais Dohoklory, and learned to create works of art using a mixture of dyes, water, and sunlight. Like magic, when a straw was blown into a glass of colored liquid, bubbles formed, which then produced a stunning blend of colors when paper was placed on top.

The children participated with enthusiasm and curiosity. Some did it independently, while others received a little help from parents or guardians. The activity then continued with simple batik-making on white cloth by dipping the cloth in colored water. This activity was simple and fun, yet full of learning benefits.

Through this process, children are introduced to the concepts of color, the creative process, texture, and function of water. Furthermore, they learn to build self-confidence, the courage to try new things, and independence.

No process is truly simple when undertaken with children with sincerity. No activity, no matter how small, when interpreted meaningfully, becomes a valuable learning experience. The 2018 Kisar Education Festival provides an important space for growth for children, teachers, and parents to continue learning, improving, and moving together toward a Smart Kisar and a Smart Maluku.
