Early Childhood Education Teacher workshop held on Saparua Island

The emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development of early childhood directly impacts their overall development and the adults they will become. Therefore, understanding the need to invest in early childhood is crucial to maximizing their future well-being.

The Early Childhood Education Teacher Workshop, held on Saparua Island from March 22–23, 2019, focused on deepening teachers’ understanding of child development and providing them with insights into how to create a safe and welcoming environment for children to learn. This topic was crucial to explore because the majority of PAUD teachers in Maluku lack a basic background in Early Childhood Education.

Nine preschools on Saparua Island and one preschool on Nusa Laut Island actively participated in the workshop.

Using a pre- and post-workshop reflection method, the workshop provided time for teachers to reflect on their work so far and any improvements they needed to make in their schools.

It is hoped that after this workshop, these 21 teachers will make a difference in their schools, bringing better education to children in Saparua and Nusa Laut.

Special thanks to UnionAID for their support of this workshop. @Lestia Primayanti and @Margaret Fritzgibbon for their great efforts and ideas in reviewing and helping us develop our modules for this workshop.

Greetings from Smart Maluku!
