Heka Leka Literacy Movement Receives Book Support from Gramedia

Gramedia, as a leading publisher and bookstore in Indonesia, has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the literacy community through the Gramedia Reading Community Competition (GRCC). After winning last year, Heka Leka received another book donation from Gramedia on May 14, 2019.

Heka Leka received two packages of books covering a wide variety of genres, including children’s stories, novels, motivational books, general knowledge books, and stories of inspiring world figures. These books will be distributed to various Reading Gardens (Taman Baca) across Maluku through literacy activists.

The limited availability of books remains a major challenge in creating a literate society in Indonesia. Various efforts have been made, including by the government through Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 23 of 2015 concerning the Development of Character, which emphasizes a reading culture as a path to fostering good behavior and noble morals.

Heka Leka, through the Maluku Reading Movement, is committed to continuously supporting individuals and communities with a vision to realize a Smart Maluku through a reading culture. They believe that the responsibility for educating the nation lies not solely with the government. Gramedia has proven this with book donations, and you can contribute too.

Book donations, both new and used, can be channeled through the Heka Leka Maluku Reading Movement. Your contribution will significantly help children throughout Maluku gain access to quality books. For more information, please contact 0823 9952 7379.

Let’s work together to realize better education in Maluku.

Greetings from Smart Maluku
