Library at Taman Literasi Martha Christina Tiahahu Officially Named Perpustakaan Heka Leka
Jakarta, September 20, 2026 – The library located within Taman Literasi Martha Christina Tiahahu, South Jakarta, has officially adopted the name Perpustakaan Heka Leka. The naming was marked by the signing of the library plaque by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, followed by a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday (September 20).
The library has been part of Taman Literasi Martha Christina Tiahahu since the area was established as a public space. The naming of the library as Heka Leka marks a new chapter in bringing renewed spirit, collaboration, and opportunities to further develop its function as part of the Taman Literasi ecosystem.
On the occasion, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his hope that the library would become an open and beneficial space for the community.
“I am Pramono Anung, Governor of DKI Jakarta, and I would like to congratulate everyone on the official use of the name Heka Leka Library at Taman Literasi Martha Christina Tiahahu. I hope Heka Leka Library will become an inclusive space for the community to learn, exchange ideas, and grow together.”
Taman Literasi as an Ecosystem
The naming of Perpustakaan Heka Leka is not intended to position the library as a standalone space. Instead, the library is part of the Taman Literasi Martha Christina Tiahahu ecosystem, which was designed from the outset as a public space that brings people together through various activities and experiences.

The Head of the DKI Jakarta Library and Archives Service, Nasruddin Djoko S., emphasized that the development of Taman Literasi is not only related to physical infrastructure, but also to strengthening the substance and culture of literacy.
“The Governor is essentially looking beyond infrastructure. Physically, this place is a space where the people of Jakarta can transit and connect with one another, but he emphasizes the substance as well. It is not only about creating a physical space for people to meet, but about building and strengthening literacy. One of the ways to achieve this is through the presence of Heka Leka Library in this park. And once again, the name of this park reflects the very strong relationship between Jakarta and Maluku.”
Therefore, the naming of Perpustakaan Heka Leka is part of an effort to strengthen the role of knowledge and learning within the Taman Literasi ecosystem, while also creating opportunities for broader collaboration.

For PT Integrasi Transit Jakarta (ITJ), the library also has the potential to serve a broader function beyond simply being a reading space.
The President Director of PT Integrasi Transit Jakarta, Yulham Ferdiansyah Roestam, sees Perpustakaan Heka Leka as a node that can bring together the business sector, communities, and education and literacy movements.
“We believe that a library should not only be a place for reading, with collections of books and a quiet atmosphere. It should be able to offer something more. Therefore, we want to develop Perpustakaan Heka Leka into a central point for collaboration with private-sector parties who want to contribute through their social responsibility initiatives.”
He added that Perpustakaan Heka Leka is expected to serve as an information center for companies that wish to contribute through social responsibility programs in education and literacy.
“Perpustakaan Heka Leka will serve as an information center for companies that want to contribute through CSR to the development of education and literacy, both for the public in Jakarta and for Maluku and Eastern Indonesia as a whole.”
According to Yulham, these collaborations will be carried out together with communities and Yayasan Heka Leka, including in supporting the distribution of CSR contributions for education and literacy initiatives in Jakarta and Eastern Indonesia.
This perspective positions the library not only as a place where activities take place, but also as a node connecting knowledge, communities, the business sector, and various social resources to create broader impact.

“For us, the decision by the Governor of DKI Jakarta to name the library at Taman Literasi Martha Christina Tiahahu Heka Leka carries a meaning far greater than simply giving it a name. It serves as a reminder and an affirmation that Maluku’s identity and contributions are part of the long journey of Jakarta and Indonesia.”
The name Martha Christina Tiahahu, which is also the name of the park, recalls the figure of a Maluku woman whose struggle later became part of Indonesia’s national history. Meanwhile, the name Heka Leka carries a Maluku cultural identity, understood as a process of purification toward a new life.
“When the two come together in a public space in Jakarta, for us, this is not only about Maluku, but about how Indonesia’s diverse identities can come together, meet, and contribute to our shared life.”

“It is within this context that we see the naming of Perpustakaan Heka Leka as an opportunity to build bridges.
