Opening of Village Library on Ay Island
With the blessings of God Almighty and the support of all those who have supported the Maluku Reading movement, the Village Library on Ay Island, Banda District, Central Maluku Regency, officially opened on May 7, 2015.
The opening of the Ay Island Village Library was initiated by Heka Leka and the Ay Island Conservation Team (Coral Triangle Center) due to the concerning educational situation on Ay Island, with the lack of libraries in early childhood education (PAUD) and elementary schools (SD INPRES) on Ay Island. In addition to the lack of libraries, the availability of teachers and supporting educational infrastructure is also a serious issue. Furthermore, the schools lack electricity, as electricity on Ay Island is only available from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
The opening of the Ay Island Village Library is expected to increase children’s enthusiasm for learning and reading. The support of parents and teachers for the Village Library program will provide new hope for building a brighter future for Ay Island. Going forward, support from various parties is still greatly needed to complete the Village Library facilities on Ay Island. We at Heka Leka invite everyone to participate in supporting the Maluku Membaca program on Ay Island.
Reading Makes Maluku Smarter. Happy learning and reading to the children of Ay Island.
Greetings, Smart Maluku.
