"It's difficult to handle the kids". ''We have very limited resource". "My students don't like to sit quietly when learning".... and on and on...
Nowadays, there are many problems that teachers have to face in classroom. In Saparua island, those are just some of them. With only limited knowledge, big heart and passion, these teachers, for years, have been trying and experimenting with many kinds of ways to help their kids learn well. Some works, some don't.

In this second meeting, Tirsa Kailola, introduced a method of Play-Based Learning as one approach in Early Childhood Education. starting with helping the teachers understand about the characteristics of alpha generation, Tirsa encouraged the teachers to understand the gap between the teacher's and the digital native's era. This knowledge will make them understand why their students behave in such a way.

Then, she explained about Play based learning as a method to teach the Alpha generation.
It's very difficult to force the kids sit and listen while the teachers teach in front of the class. They are preschooler. Therefore, teachers should be very creative. The use of creative area and creative activities in each area can be very interesting and helpful, for the kids and for the teachers.

She also gave many examples of areas and activities that can be made from trash, unused box, bottle and from nature. Even the teachers agree that nature provides many wonderful resources that they can use.
Finally, at the last activity, teacher got a chance to make their smart classroom. Teachers with 37 students, decided to use areas in their leaning process because their traditional method does not work. That's awesome.

We know that it is not easy to help the preschooler to learn. However, big heart, passion, skills and knowledge of these teachers absolutely will help them and the kids to grow well. Keep learning teachers. We can.
